Usually T is home for all our meals but yesterday he happened to have a meeting over lunch. And of course the ‘how do babies get in tummies?’ came up…
J: The new baby is going to come out your vagina just like I did, right mommy?
M: Yes, at least I hope so.
E: I came out your vagina too!
M: Yes you did.
J: If babies come out of your tummy from your vagina, how do they get in your tummy?
M: (pause; think, think, think, quick!) Well, when mommies and daddies love each other a whole bunch God puts a baby in the mommy’s tummy so they can become mommies and daddies.
J: Oh.
E: How does God put them in their? Do they fly in? God can fly because he lives in the clouds.
M: Ummm, no. Babies do not fly in. God is like magic. He just makes special things happen.
J: Wow.
End of story. For now they bought this as a legitimate reason as to how babies get into tummies and hopefully the next time they ask T will be home to answer!
